Dear Colleagues,

Many of you know that the European Science Foundation (ESF) is supporting
a 3 year (2003-2005) ESF Scientific Network Project entitled
"Philosophical and Foundational Problems of Modern Physics". For the
details of the Network see the Network's official web page

http://www.philphys.nl/

To facilitate further the communication and cooperation in the field of
philosophy and foundations of physics, the Steering Committee of the
Network is launching an electronic mailing list. The list is owned by the
Steering Committee and is maintained by our colleague L.E. Szabo on a
server in Budapest, Hungary. If you are receiving this message and have
not requested to be put on the list then your name has been put on the
initial list of subscribers on the basis of an email list provided by J.
Butterfield because we think that you may be interested in the
communication through this list. You can however unsubscribe any time if
you wish. For details concerning subscription and how to unsubscribe, as
well as for other technicalities (such as deleting multiple email
addresses, getting messages in digest format rather than receiving
separate messages etc.) please see the web page of the list, especially
the Help, at:

http://philosophy.elte.hu/philphys.html

Should you experience difficulties that you cannot solve by consulting the
Help at the above web site, you can contact L.E. Szabo at
                     leszabo at hps.elte.hu

Please note that the list is public, not moderated and is supposed to be
used according to standard rules of academic mailing lists. Announcements
suitable for posting include announcements of conferences, workshops,
seminars, job openings etc., and we also hope that subscribers will also
discuss special topics in philosophy and foundations of physics on this
list.

Welcome to the philphys list!

On behalf of the Steering Committee,
With special thanks to L.E. Szabo
for his generous work in setting up the mailing list,

Miklos Redei
