Dear Friends and Colleagues,

below you will find:

1) the corrected and updated programme for our next few
philosophy of physics seminars.

2) A reminder of other seminars in the next two weeks.

3) The announcement of a quantum information workshop in Paris,
on 8 & 9 December ( http://se10.comlab.ox.ac.uk:8080/FOCS/QdayII_en.html ).

4) The announcement of a summer school at the Central European University
( http://www.ceu.hu/sun/SUN_2006/Downloads/Recruitment/Descrying.pdf ).

3) "Quantum information"-workshop in Paris, 8 & 9 December:

http://se10.comlab.ox.ac.uk:8080/FOCS/QdayII_en.html

A second (informal) workshop on Mathematical Structures in Quantum
Informatics is to be held in Paris, this time two days and at the IHP
[Institut Henri Poincare] (room 314, 3rd floor) on the 8th and the 9th of
December 2005. Among the proposed talks re-occuring topics are
Measurement Based Approaches, Categorical Structures and Higher-Order
Features in Quantum Informatics.

We plan to have a (minimal) reception on the evening of Wednesday the 7th
(for those already in Paris), have a full day of talks and discussions on
Thursday the 8th, and will continue this on Friday, but not untill too
late in the afternoon giving participants the opportunity to travel home
on Friday. If you are interested in participating, and perhaps give a 40'
talk or a shorter 15' one, just contact us:

 * Vincent Danos [PPS - Paris 7] <vincent.danos at pps.jussieu.fr>
 * Bob Coecke [OUCL - Oxford] <coecke at comlab.ox.ac.uk>

Please feel free to circulate this invitation further to whomever you
think might be interested, especially students, and also those in an early
stage of their work who can use the 15' slots to present their research
projects. Those who intend to participate thus far (some tentatively):

Samson Abramsky (Oxford), Pablo Arrighi (Grenoble), Howard Barnum (Los
Alamos), Dan Browne (Oxford), Bob Coecke (Oxford), Vincent Danos (PPS -
Paris 7), Ross Duncan (Oxford), Chris Heunen (Nijmegen), Elham Kashefi
(Oxford & Perimeter Inst.), Math Leifer (Perimeter Inst.), Eric Paquette
(Montreal), Mehrnoosh Sadrzadeh (Montreal & Oxford), Sonja Smets (Brussels
& LSE), Isar Stubbe (Coimbra), Mike Varnava (Imperial College).

4) Two-week summer school in philosophy of physics/metaphysics at the
Central European University in Budapest on "Descrying the world in
Physics" organised by Barry Loewer (Rutgers). David Albert, Tim Maudlin,
Carl Hoefer, Kati Balog, David Papineau are on the faculty. It is
appropriate for graduate students and post docs. URL for the course:
