POST-DOC POSITION IN PHILOSOPHY OF PHYSICS

The Institut d'Histoire des Sciences et des Techniques (IHPST), Paris, in
association with the Centre de Recherche en Epistémologie Appliquée (CREA),
Paris, and the Direction des Sciences de la Matière (DSM), CEA-Saclay, seeks
to hire a post-doctoral researcher in philosophy of physics, to start 15
November 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter, in the context of project
FOUNDPHYS, funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR). Duration of
the position is 16 months, and net pre-tax remuneration is approximately
1800 euros per month.

The successful applicant will be based at IHPST but will be expected to
circulate between the three participating institutions. He or she will be 
expected (a) to conduct independent research within the broad scope
of the project, that is on topics relating to any of the following: time,
information, probability and the observer; (b) to contribute to the
organisation of the network seminar in philosophy and foundations of
physics, and to the organisation of any project-related meetings and
workshops; and ideally (c) to help develop teaching courses for physicists
in the foundations of physics. The other researchers participating in the
project include: Anouk Barberousse and Jacques Dubucs at IHPST, Michel
Bitbol and Jean Petitot at CREA, Alexei Grinbaum and Etienne Klein (overall
