What: PhD-course on quantum non-locality
When: Sep. 11 - Sep. 12
Where: University of Oslo, Blindern Campus
Deadline for applying: June 15th

---

Between September 11 and September 12, we will hold a two-day workshop at the University of Oslo as part of a PhD course on the topic of quantum non-locality.

The course will introduce the participants to the current state-of-the-art on quantum non-locality, with the aim of contributing to the ongoing philosophical discussion on the topic. The course will feature talks and discussion groups on topics, including non-locality and relativity, causal models for Bell experiments, superdeterminism and retrocausation, entanglement and quantum ontology, and temporal non-locality. Professor Alastair Wilson from the University of Birmingham will give the opening lecture, presenting an overview of the current state-of-the-art.

The course is worth 3 ECTS credits. To qualify for the credits, participants must give a brief presentation during the workshop, submit a 1500-2000-word essay on a related topic, and write a 500-1000 word review of another participant's work.

This course is primarily aimed at PhD level students in philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy of physics, and metaphysics, but postdocs and master's students with an interest in the topic are also welcome to apply.

The workshop is free of charge and includes lunch for the two days (please inform us of any food restrictions). It will take place on the University of Oslo's campus Blindern in Norway. Transportation, accommodation, and other meals must be arranged and financed by the participants themselves.

The deadline for applications is June 15, 2023. To apply, please send a short description of yourself and your research interests, along with a title and a short abstract (up to 150 words) for your talk, to Jørn Kløvfjell Mjelva: j.k.mjelva at ifikk.uio.no<mailto:j.k.mjelva at ifikk.uio.no>. Spaces are limited, so priority will be given to PhD students, and places will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
