 Professor Gregory Claeys from the University of London will be the
guest of ELTE Department of English Studies. He will hold the
following lectures and seminars.



*"Mill and Paternalism: Context and Application"*

The talk revisits the most important arguments of Prof. Claeys’s
latest book <http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/history/history-ideas-and-intellectual-history/mill-and-paternalism>,
a comprehensive reassessment of J. S. Mill’s career focusing on his
relationship to paternalism, interventionism and feminism.

 *"Dystopia: For Dummies"*

Utopia meets dystopia: a survey of the concepts of utopia, dystopia and
totalitarianism. Utopia and dystopia beyond their literary aspects.

Professor Claeys will also hold an academic skills seminar on publication
and presentation with the motto “Academics are known for bad prose and dull
presentations– but is it necessary?” This seminar is primarily for PhD
students, but outstanding MA students and faculty are also welcome.
