The XXVIII International Summer School in Philosophy of Physics focuses on
the Epistemology of Quantum Gravity, addressing a pivotal issue at the
intersection of physics and philosophy. This year's theme explores the
epistemological status of quantum gravity theories—how can such a theory be
formulated without empirical data, and how can its progress be evaluated?
The school will feature in-depth lectures on the physics, philosophy, and
conceptual foundations of quantum gravity and its connections to cosmology,
epistemology, and metaphysics. Topics include the challenges of
constructing a theory of quantum gravity in the absence of experimental
evidence, and the debate over whether these approaches are advancing toward
a coherent understanding of the quantum nature of spacetime or engaging in
speculative theorizing.

Speakers include:
Eugenia Colafranceschi (University of Western Ontario)
Karen Crowther (University of Oslo)
Erik Curiel (University of Bonn)
Richard Dawid (Stockholm University)
Philipp Hoehn (Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate
University)

Notification of Acceptance: 7 April 2025.
