INTRODUCTION OF THE SEMINAR

The state of volunteering, understanding its importance in society, promoting
and supproting volunteer work is very diverse in different European Union and

developments and sociocultural context. This is important to know and take into
account especially when sending and hosting EVS volunteers in Euro-Med context,
what needs to be considered and how to avoid and overcome the potential

setting an example of active citizenship and fighting racism and xenophobia.
For EVS volunteer working in a distinc country opffers a boost for personal
development and a valuable non-formal learning experience, which young
volunteer can bring back to its community.

The aim of the seminar is to discuss the situation of volunteering in EU and
Mediterranean countries, exchange experiences between youth organisations, who
have involved EVS volunteers and EVS volunteers experienced in Euro-Med
context, bring out the needs and possibilities of how to better involve
volunteers and encourage more young people to volunteer both on local and
international level, especially within the frame of Euro-Med YOUTH programme.

sociocultural context;
-	exchange experiences and good practice about working as a volunteer in
local and international level, with emphasis on personal development and impact
on the local community;
-	exchange experiences and good practice about involving and working with
volunteers on local and international level, with empahsis on capacity of
organisations and impact on local community;

involve volunteers and encourage more young people to volunteer both on local
and international level;
