TOP TEN WORKCAMPS OF THE WEEK
Zomerweken Zon in Huis, Utrecht. HOLLAND.5.1. NL VIA (CSAK FIÚKNAK VAN HELY!)
29/06/2009- 20/07/2009
Albert van Koningsbruggen is a nursing home in Utrecht. The residents are
mostly
elderly people who suffer from a defective memory and/or physical
disabilities and
have a potential to get a feeling of loneliness. Although they need
intensive care,
they are willing and vital enough to join activities in the nursing home
or just to
enjoy a nice chat. But because of a lack of personnel and funds, the
motivated
personnel is not always capable of providing the attention the residents
are asking
for. Due to, among other things, government savings the personal is forced
to put
their focus on providing medical care and less on personal care. During
the summer
several activities will be organised for the residents to bring some
sunshine inside
the home. Some special attention will be given to them and an atmosphere
will be
created in which the residents will be encouraged to cut their routine and
to meet
other people. In order to realise that there is a huge need for volunteers.
WORK The volunteers will assist the personnel in guiding the residents
during the
activities. They will help the elderly people to enjoy the summer by
having time for
a chat and a little walk. There will also be space for the volunteers to
organise an
event in the home (think of theatre, exhibitions, music, be creative!.

and local
communitys life. The path will give opportunity to make guided
eco-excursions in order to raise the level of ecological education of the
Ergaki
visitors.
Traditional hunting tools and equipment, hunter huts, which are built
according to
local architectural traditions, local cuisine and folklore will create for
