Dear all

A joint project involving the philosophy department, public engagement and the graduate school of education at the University of Bristol, in collaboration with teachers in local schools, has produced resources available here:

http://www.bristol.ac.uk/philosophy/thinking-science/download-resources/

They are intended to facilitate classroom reflection and discussion that is accessible to all students in order to help consolidate core curriculum knowledge, but can also be used for enrichment activities. Disengaged and underachieving students may benefit from approaching science in this way, and they encourage high attaining students to draw upon their scientific knowledge in a different way. The resources have been developed to cohere with the conceptual and linguistic framework, and core content of the UK key stage 3 national curriculum in particular, but are suitable for all ages and levels. They have been designed in practice with teachers and students, and require minimal or even no preparation prior to use, and are usable in many different ways. They are free to download in the form of an interactive pdf. They cover biology, chemistry, physics and 'thinking scientifically'. We would be grateful to those who find these resources useful for their acknowledgement and feedback.

Please forward as appropriate.

Take care
James
