Aspects of Aristotle's Theory of Locomotion

The purpose of this discussion is to show that taken seriously, Aristotle's
theory of terrestrial motion is far more powerful and capable of accounting
for actual phenomena than usually assumed.

True, but Unconvincing:  Why does Planetary Brightness Vary - Sosigenes'
Critique of Homocentric Astronomy

In his commentary on Aristotle's On the Heavens, Simplicius (6th century AD)
reproduces a critique of homocentric astronomy by Sosigenes (2nd century
AD).  With modern knowledge at hand, the criticism seems incontestable, but
this appearance can change drastically given the state of knowledge in
Sosigenes's 2nd century AD.
